Lyrics
Hold Me Closer
I let you down I scream for help but only After you drown My nights are cold and lonely I let you down I scream for help but only After you drown My nights are cold and lonely Hold me closer Hold me like this Hold me in the dead of night Hold me closer Hold me like this Hold me in the dead of night
Aurelia
I walk among the trees in the evening Shadows that have opened in my mind A heaviness slows my breathing Somehow it speeds up time Ascending from a cold stone wall With jagged rocks cutting as I climb Fading as I softly fall Whisper to me where I lie I’ll still love you when the morning comes The morning never felt so bad Do you ever really think about me? The morning never felt so... I’ll still love you when the moon it falls You whisper to my wounded soul So bitter but it tastes so sweet I swam through a river I saw Swimming under glass sheets three feet deep I guess that’s why I didn’t hear you call Caught up in emotions I can’t speak Dear lover I am all exposed Illuminated in your glow I always knew I’d end up alone Forever haunted by your ghost I’ll still love you when the morning comes The morning never felt so bad Do you ever really think about me? The morning never felt so I’ll still love you when the moon it falls You whisper to my wounded soul So bitter but it tastes so sweet Your love is a poison arrow through my heart I try in vain to elude it You paint me in your picture, distill me in your art A heavy brush won’t remove it I’ll still love you when the morning comes The morning never felt so bad Do you ever really think about me? The morning never felt so I’ll still love you when the moon it falls You whisper to my wounded soul So bitter but it tastes so sweet
Beach Houses
Standing here, blue beach chair Sittin on your lonesome, all grown up But it don’t count for much Champagne and brunch Are illusive as the tide Goal posts all reassigned And beach houses and islands We ain’t gonna find em Beach houses and islands We ain’t gonna find em Standing here, blue beach chair Sittin on your lonesome, all grown up But it don’t count for much Champagne and brunch Are illusive as the tide Goal posts all reassigned And beach houses and islands We ain’t gonna find em Beach houses and islands We ain’t gonna find em I want to go round again I want to go round again I want to go round again I want to go round again I want to go round again I want to go round again I want to go round again I want to go round again
Settle Down
Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love I hear you sit atop your pile of gold You never told me, you were so spoiled Crowned and held to your throne by a thin cord With paranoia embroidered Joy at the words that I'm gone You're alone, but for slaves by your side A manic joy Through your withered black piercing eyes Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love I feel your breath on my sinned hallowed skin And it burns at your touch A cold silver sting when the ice holds me in I'm a prisoner of lust Feathers of gold and the fire that I've grown It, it helps me regain A fierce new resolve And completely absolves me of blame Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love Settle down, it is only love
Brothers of the Mountain
There were three young brothers Who hailed from yonder east They’d cross the hills of red gums trees And ride their demon beasts They knew the trails and read them Like the back of their hand Waiting for a wanderer To idly cross their land Every time they’d find them They’d tie them to this tree Brothers of the mountain From yonder to the sea Along the tracks they’d speed Dust flew up at their heels Their lips curled up with malice Their eyes lit up with greed Till finally a horse came rolling Across a sunburnt plain And almost reached their forest Before turning back again Every time they’d find em They’d tie them to this tree Brothers of the mountain From yonder to the sea He jumped from his horse, and he lifted his hands And he threw all his gold toward the trees The brothers leapt out and they fought for the spoils And the wanderer crept on his knees They finally came to their senses When their stomachs started to ache Their possessions were gone and a note that was left Told them that the gold had been fake Every time they’d find em They’d tie them to this tree Brothers of the mountain From yonder to the sea
Whale Song
Under the deep of the ocean, the young whale would swim He’d turn to the depths and rest there on the brink The edge of unknown, how frightening and scary The look of the place, it screamed, 'be wary!' The sharks and squid, and what grabs on your tail And the teeth, they’re like razors, and not safe for a whale The fish there play tricks on you, helping you fall There ain’t no camaraderie, there ain’t none at all
